In comparison to his peers Michele reveals a level of maturity that his friends do not have. He defends Barbara before Skull can obscenely exploit her. Barbara is constantly harassed for being the only girl in the ‘gang’. Not even Michele could comprehend ‘how she put up’ with them, assuming it was the ‘fear of being left alone’. Barbara as well as Michele, is too innocent to distinguish the best for their own wellbeing. Michele has morals and instinctively knew that ‘there was something dirty’ with Barbara’s punishment. Unlike Michele, Skull has no remorse. Skull has the audacity to abuse people as he desires. Michele does not engage is exploiting others, in fact he obtains the rational reasoning of an educated adult. The most imperative case in which Michele expresses maturity is when he discovers Filippo. Initially Michele acts childish proclaiming Filippo as his, evidently influenced by Skull’s flawed and selfish logic-‘finders keepers’. Because Skull threatened her by saying, â€Å"Either show us your tits or get lost. † This is an example of Skulls being very cruel and selfish. Another character that shows this is Pino, Michele’s father. A time in the novel when he is cruel is when all the adults in the village who were behind Filipo’s kidnapping where trying to work out who was going to shoot and kill Filipo. Then Pino says, â€Å"Let’s play a game. Do you know the soldiers draw? † This is where Pino loses the game and is the one going to kill Filipo. Niccolo Ammaniti’s novel I’m not scared, shows the audience about the life of a young boy who has to deal with problems that a normal nine year old boy should never have to deal with. He is to overcome all types of challenges found within a dark secret in a hole. Throughout the story Michele Amitrano journeys from childhood into a maturity beyond his years. This is shown when he stands up to support what he believes in. Secondly Michele realizes that the adults around him are capable of cruel violence. Throughout the story Michele is capable of standing up to his fears in order to support what he believes in. In the novel I’m Not Scared by Niccolo Ammaniti, there are some characters that are cruel and selfish. Skull is an excellent example of this because when he orders Barbra to unbutton her shirt and show her breasts. Because Skull threatened her by saying, â€Å"Either show us your tits or get lost. † This is an example of Skulls being very cruel and selfish. Another character that shows this is Pino, Michele’s father. A time in the novel when he is cruel is when all the adults in the village who were behind Filipo’s kidnapping where trying to work out who was going to shoot and kill Filipo. Then Pino says, â€Å"Let’s play a game. Do you know the soldiers draw? † This is where Pino loses the game and is the one going to kill Filipo. Pino –good saves Michele Bad was willing to mistreat and shoot a child. In the novel I’m Not Scared, there are some characters that are cruel and selfish. Michele is a good example of a character being selfish, but he also shows compassion and kindness towards the boy in the hole, Filipo. An example of this is when he promises Filipo that he would return to him and this is when he says, â€Å"I’ve come, I kept my promise. † This is really showing the audience what type of person Michele really is as he has risked being seen by the people that kidnapped Filipo.
